Правительство Альберты, при поддержке федерального правительства Канады, остановило прием заявлений по направлению Skilled Worker провинциальной иммиграционной программы (AINP) по 29 высококвалифицированным специальностям. Эта мера введена для поддержки местного рынка рабочей силы.
По данным Центра занятости населения и социального развития Канады, из 10 000 иностранных работников, которые в 2016 году приехали на работу в Альберту, 400 человек попали под данное ограничение.
